Native plants are the foundation of a healthy ecosystem, supporting countless species of insects, birds, animals and other plant species. Native plants also play a tremendous role in the sequestration of carbon from our atmosphere. All species listed are second year perennials, native to La Crosse, Vernon or neighboring Wisconsin counties. All plants have been grown from seed, not wild dug. Native plants can be slow to establish but provide long-term benefits with flowering generally occurring 2-5 years from germination.
